Plas Rhiwlas Reviews

Emma
We had a really lovely stay at the property. The owners were super friendly and full of useful local tips, which was much appreciated. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, including some BBQ utensils, which made outdoor eating a breeze. The attic rooms were spot on for the four kids; we used the supplied stair gate in one of the bedrooms to keep the little one safe from the stairs, which was a bonus. The living room was cosy enough for our evenings and the hot tub was definitely a highlight - we made good use of it every day! The dining area comfortably fit all ten of us, so no one was left out during meal times. The garden was a bit smaller than we expected, but honestly, the weather was pretty wet most of the week, so we didn’t spend much time outside anyway. There’s a rear section of the house that was locked off, which looks perfect for larger groups, but we weren’t sure if another party was using that part since it has a separate kitchen, dining areaand bedrooms. I think it’s mainly opened up for bigger groups. Despite the rain, we found plenty to do nearby, so it didn’t bother us. One small thing was that the bike storage wasn’t available because the garage was full, so our bikes had to stay out in the rain - not ideal but we weren’t worried about security. There’s a pavement straight from the house to the town about two miles away and another to the pub within a mile, though we didn’t get round to trying the pub. We loved the open feeling around the property and the stunning views from the front. We’d definitely come back, maybe with a larger group to really make the most of everything the place has to offer!
David
We stayed at Plas Rhiwlas and honestly, it’s a cracking place-spacious, well kitted out, with stunning views. Plenty to keep us busy too, from coastal walks to visiting the steam train and exploring local heritage sites. We’d definitely return!
James
The house was stunning, really well looked afterand in a perfect spot with breathtaking views. The hosts were super friendly and helpful!
Sarah
We absolutely loved our stay here! The location is truly breathtakingand even with clouds drifting over the hills, the views never get old. There's plenty of space for two families to stay comfortably without feeling cramped, which was perfect for us. Machynlleth is just a quick 3-minute drive and has a big Co-op for all your shopping needs. If you fancy a bigger supermarket, Aberystwyth is about forty minutes away. The area is ideal for exploring mid to north west Wales - Portmeirion is an hour’s driveand we even enjoyed a scenic train trip from Machynlleth to Barmouth. John and Annie are such lovely hostsand the Bara Brith on arrival was a nice touch. Also, there’s a cosy pub in Derwenlas (only 5 minutes walk) serving fantastic food. We’d definitely come back!
Emily
We had a really lovely stay at this house. It suited our family, from little ones to seniors, perfectly. The place was super comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed, plenty of pots, dishesand cutlery. We enjoyed the car-free days, walking or catching the bus into Machynlleth during market dayand the scenic drive to Aberystwyth was a bonus. Definitely somewhere we'd return to!
Emma Roberts
We appreciated being kept updated throughout, but when we called the owners to get in, they seemed surprised about our booking, so we arrived to a house that wasn’t quite ready. Still, the place felt really cosy, like a true homeand the surrounding scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Despite that mix-up, we enjoyed our stay overall.
