Y Felin - Celyn, Borth

The lodge is equipped with comfy furniture and all the amenities you need on a self catering holiday. The only downsides for us were the lack of control with the heating. It is only on twice a day, 2 hours in the morning and then from 4.30pm in the evening. As this is November with 2 and 3 degree days we were buying plenty of wood for the fire to keep warm. I had my 70 year old mother with me. The other minor glitch was having to complain the hot tub was too cold. The owner thankfully highered the temperature to 38.5 degrees from the 36 degrees it was set at, telling me 36 degrees is standard, even though their own literature in the lodge welcome book states it is set at 39 degrees. Because of these 2 points I would only come back here in the summer. I have stayed at quite a few lodges through Sykes and this is the first time we were not given access to the central heating control during the winter months.

Lovely place to stay nice and quiet. Would defo be coming back again. Defo will be recommending to friends and family.

Really nice holiday place, we would recommend. Lovely Owners who were very helpful. Large hot tub, always on and well maintained by property owners. Great living spaces and bedrooms. Nice and warm if you want it to be, nice and cool and breezy if you want it to be. We had to have some wood for the burner on one night because british summer lol, we just messaged and the owner brought us some straight away. Towel radiator and plenty of other radiators to dry towels on when you've hot tubbed. Plenty of hot water at allany times. Really nice hot clean shower with rain head and normal head. Spacious and great. Surprising how a poor bathroom can ruin a holiday, well this one won't at all, did not disappoint in any way. Kitchen was good, plenty of equipment to cook and look after yourself and family. Only slight minor for us was no washing machine, but the linens and towels were changed for us on the Friday as we were there for 2 weeks, and there's a launderette in Borth and one in Aber. Dishwasher tablets were provided too, and a nice welcome basket with some great just arrived goodies until you can get yourself sorted. An easy walk down into Borth town just out the front of the property, down through the neighbouring caravan park entrance, and along the river to the animalarium, then along a road into Borth itself. Great with the 4 legged friends, and took us about 30 minutes including doggy sniffing and jumping in the river stops, to get to the main street. This is good, as the road way to walk in would feel a little hairy at parts. There is a road just by the property but honestly you can't really hear it. TV in main room and bedroom, both smart, and modern, so you can get your own stuff on or use the large amount of included entertainment. There's a neighboring cottage attached, their front door faces away from yours, and we only saw people a handful of times to say hello to and you couldn't hear anything from their side even if we were both out in our respective hot tubs. Plenty of parking out front a few short steps from the front of your cottage. I would recommend this to any friend or family, it's a great place and the owners were lovely.

The actual accommodation was very good and clean. However, there was often in the daytime some noise from the road traffic above and from what appeared to be a farmmaintenance yard next door. The space outside was a sun trap, but no BBQ or loungers and the outside benchtable was rotting along with a rippeddirty parasol so all meals were eaten inside. The road from the property on exit was sometimes very difficult to join given the lack of visibility when turning right. PS If you intend to go out all day these issues may be less relevant to you.

The home was very comfortable and well equipped with good access to local amenities and walks for the dog.

The accommodation was lovely and clean and spacious. .everything needed provided ..comfortable double bed and two very comfortable sofas...Great shower too....however on arrival stepping into the building it was dark and felt cold...the details in advertising the property stated a basket of wood for the log burner would be provided...as there wasn't one we rang the given contact number to be told they no longer provide it but the host said she would see what she could do...we decided to go out to try and source somewhere to buy fire wood...luckily we were given directions from a lady in the local shop and were able to purchase some ...despite it being late in the day ..once we got the log burner going it warmed our accommodation up so we were comfortable ..maybe in summer ..warmer months there may be no need for the log burner but during our stay we needed it as the underfloor heating is on a timer set by the hosts and is totally impractical for guests... without the fire the accommodation felt cold...we also felt that despite the comfortable mattress the actual bedding could do with upgrading ..the pillows were flat and the quilt didn't keep us warm .. In general we were happy with our stay ..there has obviously been a lot of thought and care into the layout and design of everything inside The only thing that would put us of staying again is the outside area ...there is a huge canopyporch outside the double doors which makes inside very dark...the outside area for the accommodation is grim...and dominated by concrete slabs...gravel and a huge steel structure housing the hot tub...totally uninspiring and not inviting...and the view is of some sort of large maintenance yard ? Another not so good point is that the accommodation is right next to a busy and noisy road which could also be heard within the accommodation ...on the whole the actual accommodation was good despite the heating system however the outside area made you feel you were anywhere else but near the sea ..and wasn't a uplifting space to want to be in .

Lovely place. Very comfortable. hot tub a bonus. Would recommend if you want a relaxing week away.

This was our second time staying here. The place is beautiful, the hosts are so welcoming and will help with anything and the hot tub is an absolute bonus! I cant fault a thing! We took our friends with us this time, plus 2 babies and a dog! Will be back again next year! Thank you so much!!!

Amazing visit, hot tub was wonderful at the end of a busy day visiting all that Wales has to offer, so much to do within 1 hours drive of the area, the cabin is so pieceful and couldn't ask for anything more, and when we did ask for extra towels the owner brought them straight over. Can't wait to come back.

Lovely cottage with everything you need. We used as a base as tried to fit in lots over the three days we were there. Nice beaches nearby, car required to make the most of the area. The ONLY thing I would add to the property is a mop and only because of the hot tub although to be fair, there may have been one and I just didnt see it We booked last minute and we had a really great time x

Very comfortable, well equipped. The only downside is trying to safely drive out on a bend with limited vision to the right.

The accomodation was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. Location was great for activities around Aberystwyth. Hot tub was lovely and in its own private area. The owner welcomed us when we arrived and made sure we had firewood for the log burner. Would recommend and would stay again if visiting the area again.

We had a fabulous week at Y Felin. The cottage was just what we needed, clean and tidy with excellent facilities. The jacuzzi was very much appreciated and we used it at least once a day. We would definitely come again. Thank you.

Amazing Gem accommodation in the heart of wonderful, beautiful landscape! Easy to explore everywhere and boy did we EXPLORE!!! The area of Wales is the best and would love to return.. such a plus to have such fab hosts to make the stay extra special. ANOTHER TREAT WAS TWO LOVELY CATS, PIGS, LAMBS AND CHICKENS TOO!

Great stay, lovely location and very much appreciate the owners allowing us to bring out new dog. Wed absolutely love to stay again if we were able to take our dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the house was brilliant. Clean, comfortable and very relaxing. Will recommend to family and friends.

We had an amazing stay at Y Felin Celyn. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. The bed was comfy, the shower was fab, and the fire and hot tub were perfect for the cold evenings! The property is quiet and is so relaxing, we will definitely be back.

Lovely property. Had a very relaxed stay. The hot tub was fantastic and as it was under cover we were able to use it whatever the weather. Property is very well presented, very clean, with good quality fixtures and fittings and everything worked as it should. All very well maintained. The welcome pack was a bonus and had the most delicious fresh eggs and bacon included. Thanks Rhiain. Kids loved the daily visits from the owners 3 cats. They are so friendly and cute! Couldnt fault our stay and would definitely recommend. Would love to return. We had a very enjoyable holiday made all the better by staying in such a fantastic property.

Great modern barn. Comfortable,modern & tasteful decorfurnishing. Hot tub added extra. Always lovely & hot. Amazing little sun trap in courtyard and handy outdoor seating on balcony. Friendly hosts. Good central place for visiting other coastal towns.

We arrived to find everything and more, that we had expected from the pictures and description on the website. Some places we have booked before not through Sykes look great on the photos but when you arrive things are not as shown, this time we were not disappointed at all! The property felt like a home from home, clean throughout and very comfortable beds and sofas, the welcome package was a lovely touch. Only one more thing to say.....we would love to return!

This is a lovely cottage and we had a fantastic mini break here. The property was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed in it. The hot tub was amazing too. It was in a perfect location a 5 minute walk from the beach. We had a great time and would definitely look to come back soon. Thank you!

There was a welcome pack from the owners waiting when we arrived, and the lady popped over shortly after we arrived to welcome us, and was also available on the phone if there were any problems. The accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable. It was ideal for our daughter who is disabled. We would definitely recommend it.

A girls relaxing weekend away and this was just perfect for us. Everything was clean and tidy, we had fresh local produce brought to us on our arrival which is a lovely touch. The hot tub was amazing! We will be recommending and hopefully returning for another break

Lovely cottage, everything as there that was needed we had a great time. Its a shame that Borth itself wasnt up to much. No nice restaurant no good bars, maybe down to COVID however it looked run down. The beach is awesome and the sunken forest is beautiful.
